Montemerano
Couples stay in Montemerano, which is one of the most picturesque villages within the Maremma. The breath-taking landscape includes hills with olive trees, vineyards, woods, fields and pastures for horses and sheep. Montemerano encapsulates the inviting beauty of the 14th century architecture - without the mass tourism. The house is based in the centre of the village, whilst it remains many traditional features, it also allows for a comfortable holiday retreat. The house has three bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and a generous living area. Montemerano offers several opportunities to go swimming, the Sea, Costa d`Argento and the lake Bolsena (each about 25 m). Only a short drive away are the rivers Albegna and Fiora, which are also ideal for swimming. The warm weather allows comfortable swimming from May to October.
During the colder months, visitors can enjoy the hot water spring. It is only 5 minutes by car to the hot (37°) sulphurous volcanic spring of Saturnia that was appreciated by the ancient Romans. Within 25 m couples can visit the ancient Etruscan towns Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana, excavations of Vitozza and Vulci, the Niki de Saint Phalle’s garden of Tarot, the Daniel Spoerri’s garden of sculptures, the antique temples of Roselle or Cosa, which are located on the cost of Monte Argentario with its delightful town Orbetello. For couples who enjoy the outdoors, there are many nature- reserves including sandy beaches and mountains to go hiking.
